Drew DalzellOwner and Principal Designer
Drew Dalzell is an award winning sound designer, show control programmer, and theatrical consultant. His experience encompasses theme parks, cruise ships, theatre, television, film, industrials, and installations.
Drew's multidisciplinary skill set—which ranges from lighting, sound, and set design to stage management, direction, and show control programming—uniquely qualifies him to oversee large-scale productions. In themed entertainment, Drew has worked for Universal Studios, Walt Disney Imagineering, Disney Creative Entertainment, Nickelodeon Recreation, and Paramount Parks. He has done extensive sound and show control work for Universal Studios Hollywood, most notably Halloween Horror Nights 2006-2009. For Nickelodeon Resorts, Drew acted as the show control programmer and technical systems consultant for Nick Live Family Style Goes Wild!, SpongeBob's Bikini Bottom Bash, Nickelodeon's Slime Party, and SpongeBob's Christmas Spectacular. His work on cruise ships includes being Technical Director for the Nickelodeon Family Cruise in 2008 and 2009 and the 2009 R Family Cruise to Alaska.
Drew has designed sound for over 250 theatrical productions. His designs have appeared in venues as varied as Disney Cruise Lines' Wonder for the world premeire of Toy Story: The Musical to world and West Coast premieres at regional theatres such as South Coast Repertory, The Laguna Playhouse, The Colony, and the Rubicon. As a young designer, he received the 1998 USITT ClearCom Sound Achievement Award. Since then, he has been nominated for Ovation, LA Weekly, Garland, LADCC, and NAACP Awards, winning multiple times. Drew also works with Stage Research as an expert trainer for their SFX Software and has trained students ranging from attendees at LDI to Local 1 members in New York City.
Some of Drew's notable installation work includes a large scale wireless audio speaker system for the City of Beverly Hills holiday season and show control design and integration for the Porsche Hall at the LA Auto Show from 2005 to 2007. His television work can be heard in the dialog recording and editing for Ruroni Kenshin, Batman Beyond, Detentions, and Justice League.
Drew received his MFA in Theatrical Sound Design from the College Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati, and his subsequent accomplishments and unique skill set have created a demand for him as a lecturer. He teaches specialized classes in show automation and sound for theme parks at California Institute of the Arts and has lectured at Yale University, University of California Irvine, The University of Missouri Kansas City, North Carolina School for the Arts, Purdue University, and The University of Cincinnati. Mark Johnson
Associate Designer
Mark Johnson is a key member of the Diablo Sound team. He was the mixer for "Story of my Life" (Havoc Theatre, 2010) and worked on the most recent Diablo projects, including the Nick Hotel poolside audio and Studio Nick updates in Orlando (2010); he was also the LCS programmer for the new Griffith Observatory show, "Light of the Valkyries" (2010). Mark was the Assistant Technical Director on the R Family Cruise to Alaska (2009) and assisted Drew Dalzell on the Nick Family Cruise (2009). He worked on Universal Studios Hollywood Halloween Horror Nights (2008-2009) and the Beverly Hills Holiday Display (2007-2009). Mark was also Diablo Sound's lead designer for the Tree Lighting Ceremony during Grinchmas at Universal Studios Hollywood in 2009. Previously, Mark worked at South Coast Repertory as Audio Engineer, Audio Technician, and Sound Designer. He designed six shows in the 2008-2009 season, including The Brand New Kid, Collected Stories, A Year with Frog and Toad, Hard Times, Gold in the Bones, and Peter Pan. Mark was also the assistant sound designer for the world premiere of You, Nero. Other work includes The Taming of the Shrew at Shakespeare Festival LA (Sound Design); Fences at Pasadena Playhouse (Assistant Sound Design); The Last 5 Years at Pasadena Playhouse (A2); Rock of Ages at Vangurad/Ren Mar Studios (Assistant Sound Design/A2) now on Broadway; and Souvenir at Berkshire Theatre Festival (A1), recently on Broadway. Fionnegan Murphy
Associate Designer
Fionnegan Justus Murphy is a Los Angeles-based sound designer and engineer. He helped install and run the sound systems for Universal Studios Hollywood Halloween Horror Nights 2007-2008. In 2009, Fionn was Diablo Sound's lead designer for the mazes and backlot of Halloween Horror Nights. Theatrically, he has designed shows for the Echo Theater Company, the Havok Theater Company and many more from Pasadena to Orange County. Since April 2008 Fionnegan has been an Assistant Theater Manager at the University of Southern California, where he has helped to facilitate over twenty shows. Sean Kozma
Senior Technician
Sean Kozma has been a lead for several major Diablo Sound projects, including Halloween Horror Nights (Universal Studios Hollywood) and the Beverly Hills Holiday Display. He has worked as a sound engineer and audio technician at theatres all around Los Angeles, including the Pasadena Playhouse, South Coast Repertory Theater, Colony Theater, Open Fist Theater, and the Havok Theater Company. Most recently, Sean took over the mix for "Story of My Life" with Havoc Theatre (2010). He was the production coordinator for Legends: Rodney Dangerfield (Comedy Central), and has worked as a script supervisor and assistant director on several independent films and music videos. Tina Perrucci
Office Manager
Tina R. Perrucci is a Graphic Designer and Freelance Project Manager with over 15 years experience in nearly every aspect of Theatre. As a Stage Manager and Production Designer, she has toured the world with large-scale musicals and operas as well as managing and/or designing for numerous regional theatres here in the States. Jim vanBergen
Designer
In the world of themed entertainment, Jim designed KaTonga! at Busch Gardens Tampa and regularly consults for BG Entertainment. Jim has designed corporate events and shows, consulted on venues, media; done system consulting and system alignment for two other major themed entertainment giants whose NDA’s do not allow him to mention his work or association. Jim has also designed media for dozens of themed shows and designed media and productions for Eerie World Entertainment, from entire haunted houses to major restaurant attractions to themed messaging systems and hold music.
As a theatrical sound designer, Jim’s credits range from Broadway’s True West to national tours of ART, It Ain’t Nothin’ But the Blues; The Harlem Nutcracker, Blue Man Group (Chicago production) the Big Apple Circus, and include 200+ other productions of plays and musicals in NYC. As a production engineer on Broadway, Jim mixed Cats, Chicago, Hair, and other Broadway shows in addition to Pirates of Penzance, and Candide at New York City Opera.
For broadcast, Jim has mixed for worldwide pool shows such as New Year’s Eve in Times Square, the 9/11 Memorial and many similar events in New York City in addition to special live broadcast events for NBC, CBS, PBS, MTV, ESPN, WWF/WWE, Sirius and XM radio.
Cricket Myers is a busy Los Angeles-based sound designer. She was Diablo Sound's lead designer for Rocky Horror Picture Show: A Tribute during Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights in 2009. Some of Cricket's recent designs include the following: Off-Broadway: Marvelous Wonderettes (Westside Arts Upstairs). Regional: School of Night, Nightingale (Mark Taper Forum); Bengal Tiger at the Bahdad Zoo, The Little Dog Laughed, Two Unrelated Plays, Come Back Little Sheba (Kirk Douglas Theater); Some Girl(s) and Emergency (Geffen Playhouse); Crowns, Orson’s Shadow (Pasadena Playhouse); Marvelous Wonderettes (Laguna Playhouse); Crowns (Ebony Rep) Cricket has designed over 200 productions in Los Angeles, in theaters such as the Colony Theater, Furious Theater, Celebration Theater, Circle X and West Coast Ensemble. In 2008, she was nominated for 4 Ovation Awards, and in 2007, Cricket won a Garland Award (3 Honorable Mentions) and was nominated for 2 Ovation Awards, an LADCC and an NAACP Award. She was named a “Young Designer to Watch” by Live Design Magazine, April’07 and an “Artist to Watch” by LA Stage Magazine, Sept 07.
Scott Jennings
Designer
Scott A. Jennings is mostly known for film and television sound, where his credits span 20 years and many genres. With 80 feature films and more than 300 episodes of television shows, you have probably already heard his work. Some of his best-known films are The Passion of the Christ, Apocalypto (nominated for Academy Awards for best sound editing and best sound mixing), and March of the Penguins, which won an Academy Award for best documentary. Comedies like Nacho Libre and Brüno were box office favorites, and horror films such as Shutter, Tamara and Spawn demonstrate his versatility. Scott also earned two daytime Emmy Award nominations for sound editing on Saturday morning cartoon shows. In 1997, he added theme park work to his repertoire and has since completed projects for Walt Disney Imagineering in Anaheim, Florida, Tokyo and Hong Kong. During that time Scott met Drew Dalzell. They have collaborated on a number of projects, including Halloween Horror Nights (Universal Studios Hollywood 2007 -2009).
Rebecca Kessin

Rebecca Kessin is a sound designer happily fulfilling her lifelong love of making theatre. Recent designs in Los Angeles include The Graduate (West Coast Ensemble at the El Centro Theatre), Pope Joan (Stella Adler Theate), Kiss of the Spiderwoman (co-design with Drew Dalzell at the Bootleg Theate), She Loves Me (Rubicon Theater Co), Miss Witherspoon (West Coast Ensemble at the El Centro Theatre), Educating Rita (co-design with Cricket Myers at the Colony Theatre) and the award winning short film Zombie Love. Rebecca was Diablo Sound's A1 for Rocky Horror Picture Show: A Tribute during Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights in 2009. She received her MFA from the California Institute of the Arts.
